2C:48-1. Composition
2C:48-1. Composition. There is hereby created a Criminal Disposition Commission, consisting of 12 members consisting of two members of the Senate, no more than one of whom shall be of the same political party, appointed by the President of the Senate; two members of the General Assembly, no more than one of whom shall be of the same political party, appointed by the Speaker of the General Assembly; the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court or his designee, the Attorney General or his designee, the Public Defender or his designee, the Chairman of the State Parole Board or his designee, the Commissioner of the Department of Corrections or his designee, the President of the New Jersey Prosecutors Association or his designee and two public members to be appointed by the Governor. The legislative members shall serve for terms coextensive with their respective terms as a member of the House of the Legislature from which they are appointed and the two public members shall serve for a term of three years except that one of the initial appointments shall be for a term of one year. Members shall be eligible for reappointment to the commission, and vacancies in the commission shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment, but for the unexpired term only. The members of the commission shall serve without compensation, but shall only be reimbursed for necessary expenses actually incurred in the performance of their duties under this chapter. The commission shall choose a chairman from among its members.
